My name is Dean Westphal, founder of
The Craft of English.

About Me

I have utilised my formal training, linguistic abilities and experience of the application of the English language in multiple contexts both in theory and in practice to compile and deliver a comprehensive yet simultaneously concise IELTS preparation and English intermediate programme that covers the key concepts that students must master if they are to pass their English assessments and communicate in real life situations in the world’s most common medium of communication.

My Qualifications:
Formal Education and Training

Bachelor of Arts with distinction in Linguistics (BA cum laude in Linguistics, Language Practice, English and French)

Advanced 300 hour Teaching English as a Foreign Language Diploma with specialisation in teaching Business English, teaching face-to-face and online, equivalent of a Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults (Advanced 300 hour TEFL diploma, CELTA equivalent)

Informal Education by Personal Interest

History of the world of classical antiquity and ancient civilisations, European history of the dark ages, middle ages and the Renaissance.
